With camera in hand, I head to another country, or to view a stellar waterscape. I do it to get away, to visualize, to be in the moment instead of stuck in traffic. Instead of thinking about money. Instead of living in the past or worrying about the future.

Instead, I'm calm. I'm relaxed. I'm waiting patiently for my camera to process the long exposure I just made. Waiting to see the ethereal softness of the lake or the silky smooth waterfall that takes me from the radio's bad news.

Photography is therapy. Discovering new places, visualizing a scene, composing, making the image and decoding it later is a restorative process.
